The yuk factor and others
by jgnat inwill you share with me an interesting discussion on what morals we all may have in common?
my recent reading has resulted in a fundamental shift in my worldview.
it feels like my house of cards have reshuffled themselves yet again, and everything i see, hear and smell is put in a new context.

Hi jgnat, I happen to recently read regarding retribution with is aggregated to subjective moral values, there isn't really that much reading material even among philosophers, I read The Moral Landscape by Sam Harris and The Righteous mind by Jonathan Haith.
Religion likes to impose a static form of morals even though they have been overwritten by the New Testament, but regarding the scientific community it all boils down to the old philosophical argument - nature or nurture, that is is it old traits we evolved from? (like fight or flight tendencies when we were cavemen and cavewomen) or is it in relation to our upbringing due to our religions, secular or atheist parents?
If you start to compare us to other animals expects correlations, tribalism, sexual gratification and the need for new life, yet we are social animals and conscience of our own limitations.

Heart vs Mind - What Makes Us Human
by ballistic inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01kpvj1/heart_vs_mind_what_makes_us_human/.
i was watching this bbc iplayer programme on heart and mind, (which is well worth a watch if you can access where you are).
and despite how the programme starts out, it develops into a deep and touching discussion of what makes us human.. i personally was left with the feeling at odds with what i believed as a witness.

How does anxiety affect your heart rate?
by Splash in-- w54 4/15 p. 233 scriptural aspect of psychosomatic medicine --.
"doctors have found also that anxiety slows down the heart beat as much as 27 beats a minute.
the bible shows that men become faint out of fear and the heart may stop.luke 21:26 (men become faint out of fear)".

Anxiety raises blood pressure, for Pete’s sake what century are the WB&TS on?? Soon they will be saying that masturbation and ejaculation are an addiction, oh wait they had.
prologos: Of course they didn't, not even through holy spirit lol, and even today people speak of the heart like its a mind on one's chest, news flash a heart is nothing more than a scavenge pump for blood.

Atheism and Theism are only partly right!
by abiather intoday we know that matter and energy are interchangeable, hence they are there always in either form, they are eternal, hence requires no creator.
hence atheism is right in rejecting a creator, but failed in providing any motivation for people to do good.
religions, in their effort to provide a motivating factor for humans to do good, introduced creation stories and other myths; hence they too are right (as far as their intention is concerned), yet failed in producing any worthy resultsworld was steadily moving from bad to worse and from worse to worst!.

All atheism is is a lack of belief in deities due to a lack of evidence, NOTHING else.

Individual Governing Body Members
by lambsbottom inafter watching morris' rant, was thinking about how weak these religious men are.
think about it: they are scared to put any of their hardcore beliefs (e.g.
higher education is bad and dangerous, clothing standards, ect.
